How We Collect Data
Last updated: March 2026
LuxuryRentalCar.ca is a directory of luxury and exotic car rental companies operating across Canada. This page explains how we gather, process, and maintain the information displayed on our site.
Our Data Sources
We use a combination of publicly available data, automated tools, and manual review to build and maintain our directory. Our primary data sources include:
- Google Places API — We use Google's Places API (via Apify) to discover luxury and exotic car rental businesses across Canadian cities. This provides business names, addresses, phone numbers, websites, operating hours, ratings, and review counts.
- Company Websites — We visit and scrape publicly accessible company websites using ScrapingBee to gather additional details such as fleet information, service descriptions, and vehicle availability.
- AI-Assisted Extraction — We use Claude (by Anthropic) to extract structured data from unstructured text, such as identifying which vehicle makes and models a company offers based on their website content and business descriptions.
- User Submissions — Rental companies and users may submit information directly through our contact form, including new listings, corrections, and reviews.
How We Process Data
Raw data from these sources goes through several processing steps:
- Collection — Business data is collected from public sources and stored in our database (hosted on Supabase).
- Enrichment — We enrich listings with additional details from company websites, including fleet information, service areas, and vehicle inventory.
- AI Processing — Claude AI generates review summaries and extracts vehicle make/model associations from business descriptions. All AI-generated content is reviewed for accuracy.
- Verification — Listings are verified against publicly available information. Verified listings receive a verification badge on our site.
- Ongoing Updates — We periodically re-scrape company websites and refresh Google Places data to keep information current.
Vehicle Data
Our vehicle taxonomy (makes and models available for rent) is built from two sources:
- Description Extraction — AI analysis of existing business descriptions to identify mentioned vehicle brands and models (marked as "extracted" confidence).
- Website Scraping — Direct scraping of company fleet pages to identify specific vehicles offered (marked as "scraped" confidence, higher reliability).
Vehicle associations include a confidence level so users can understand the reliability of the data.
What We Don't Collect
- We do not collect personal information about rental company employees.
- We do not access password-protected or private areas of company websites.
- We only scrape publicly accessible web pages.
- We do not store pricing data unless it is publicly listed on a company's website.
Accuracy and Corrections
While we strive for accuracy, the information on our site may not always reflect the most current state of a business. Fleet availability, hours, and contact details can change without notice.
If you are a business owner and would like to update, correct, or remove your listing, please contact us. We respond to all correction requests within 5 business days.
